
Marie first joined the Life with Cancer team as an intern in the summer of 2022, then the Pediatric team full-time in June of 2023. She earned her Masters in Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Mason University and is currently a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia. As a Pediatric Behavioral Health Therapist, Oncology, Marie provides individual outpatient therapy for children, adolescents, and their family members impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
After working for a medical non-profit, Marie decided to return to school to pursue her passion for supporting families navigating illness. Previously, she volunteered in a crisis counseling setting, preparing her for difficult and honest conversations concerning mental health. Her areas of interest include pediatric bereavement, sibling bereavement, anticipatory grief support, understanding grief within a cultural context, and family grief/loss and bereavement. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and tending to her indoor plant collection.
