Life with Cancer weather policy: * If county school systems, evening activities and/or adult education programs are cancelled, Life with Cancer will cancel classes and groups.   * If county school systems have a delayed opening, Life with Cancer groups and classes will NOT be cancelled or delayed.  * If county school systems have an early dismissal, Life with Cancer will cancel afternoon and evening classes and groups.  * Note: Individual counseling and massage therapy appointments will take place as scheduled unless otherwise arranged between the counselor and/or massage therapist and client.

Life with Cancer Volunteer Opportunities

Reiki Practitioner
Provide individual Reiki treatments at the Life with Cancer Family Center in Fairfax, VA. Reiki volunteers must have completed Level III training and be available on the second Monday and/or fourth Friday of most months, 4:30-6:30pm and/ or 7-8pm. In addition to a background check, annual flu shot and TB test are required.

Library Assistant
We are looking for a committed Library Assistant who is passionate about resource literature, organized, detail oriented, reliable, available 2-4 hours weekly, and has working knowledge of computer and specifically Excel spread sheets. Job duties include working with Life with Cancer staff member to: inventory pamphlets, prepare list of pamphlets to be ordered, process and shelve new pamphlets and books, and keep library neat and organized.

Special Events
Special Events volunteers are needed throughout the year, week days and weekends, and at various times of the day. Survivors Offering Support (SOS)
Whether you’re facing breast cancer and could benefit from the help of a mentor or you are a breast cancer survivor and can offer help to another, SOS is for you. Newly diagnosed? SOS lets you share the breast cancer journey with someone who has experienced your situation first hand. A diagnosis of breast cancer can be overwhelming, but we are here to help. Mentors, all breast cancer survivors themselves, are specially trained to provide knowledge, support, encouragement and a shoulder to lean on. SOS mentors provide emotional and informational support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients through peer mentoring.
