Life with Cancer Volunteer Opportunities

Provide individual Reiki treatments at the Life with Cancer Family Center in Fairfax, VA. Reiki volunteers must have completed Level III training and be available on the second Monday and/or fourth Friday of most months, 4:30-6:30pm and/ or 7-8pm. In addition to a background check, annual flu shot and TB test are required.
A reliable and fairly consistent volunteer is need to help us summarize and record class evaluation statistics. If you like numbers, have working knowledge of Excel, are detail oriented, and available weekly, we’d like to talk with you about this volunteer opportunity.

We are looking for a committed Library Assistant who is passionate about resource literature, organized, detail oriented, reliable, available 2-4 hours weekly, and has working knowledge of computer and specifically Excel spread sheets. Job duties include working with Life with Cancer staff member to: inventory pamphlets, prepare list of pamphlets to be ordered, process and shelve new pamphlets and books, and keep library neat and organized.

Survivors Offering Support (SOS)
Whether you’re facing breast cancer and could benefit from the help of a mentor or you are a breast cancer survivor and can offer help to another, SOS is for you. Newly diagnosed? SOS lets you share the breast cancer journey with someone who has experienced your situation first hand. A diagnosis of breast cancer can be overwhelming, but we are here to help. Mentors, all breast cancer survivors themselves, are specially trained to provide knowledge, support, encouragement and a shoulder to lean on. With SOS, you are never alone.
